ESPAITEC STARTS A SERIES OF “ACTUALIZA’T CASTELLÓ” EVENTS ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE HEALTH SECTOR

______________________________________
THE OBJECTIVE IS TO IDENTIFY SUITABLE TECHNOLOGIES AND TRENDS TO BE ADAPTED TO THE SOCIAL, ECOMINIC AND ENVIRONMENT NEEDS OF THE PROVINCE OF CASTELLÓN
______________________________________

The sudden appearance of new technologies is associated with a complete change in understanding not only the production and business system in the Valencian Community, but also fundamental services like health. So it is important that attempts are made to form part of the digital transformation produced by new technologies from different areas, including healthcare.

To take information and examples of the good healthcare technologies practices used in other regions to the province of Castellón, the Science and Technology Park of the Universitat Jaume I (Espaitec) is organising the event “Actualitza’t: Espaitec, technologies for health”. This event helps make easier the incorporation of new technologies into the health sector in this province by taking innovation and new eHealth technologies to the Castellón society.

This event will address professionals from the health sector, technology-based companies, students of medicine and computer sciences, and generally anyone concerned about technologies and their application to health.

This free event will take place on Friday 20 September from 12:00-14:00h in the Multipurpose Hall of the Espaitec 2 Building.

To participate, it will be necessary to register beforehand using this form forms.gle/JcavvqWPVq2Pdzgz5 before Thursday 19 September.

The event will be given as a presentation-moderated debate led by Miguel Ángel De la Cámara Egea, Secretary of the eHealth Research Association (AIES), who will explain the state of the art of adopting eHealth in Spain before the turn of technological presentations and an open debate with those attending.

The “ScanKids VH” project, set up at the Vall d’Hebrón Hospital in Barcelona, is one of technologies to be presented. It is a gamified APP for radiology used with children before they undergo tomographical tests to reduce patients’ sedation for CT scans. The “Esporti Family” app will also be presented, developed to fight against child obesity and used in families.

We will also get to know companies like Medmesafe, which works on preventive medicine using genetic data and calculations, and Rithmi, a Valencian company that has developed a bangle to detect atrial fibrillation, the most frequent form of arrhythmia that can cause stroke.

The Universitat Jaume I will present the Senior Monitoring Project, a solution for monitoring the elderly at home by a non-invasive system, and the Pain Monitor app that monitors patients on a daily basis to know it their treatment is working properly. Finally, the TIC Salut Foundation of Catalonia will present the mConnecta technology platform, which aims to provide new resources to healthcare professional to improve citizen care.

After the debate, the intention is to obtain a report on the situation our province is in and to acquire better practices and advice for them to be applied as soon as possible. Basically, the idea is to form a roadmap of the most novel healthcare processes and technologies applicable to the province of Castellón.

The intention of the “Actualiza’t Castelló” events, financed by the  Regional Valencian Government of Education, Culture and Sport of the Generalitat Valenciana, is to act as a link between the society of today and tomorrow from a quadruple helix perspective; University, Company, Administration, Society; which allows society to be empowered to participate in designing its structure and operation to thus improve its sustainability.
