Foodration4all, a company based at Espaitec, starts phase 2 of the pilot test of the No-one Goes Without Their Daily Ration project, an innovative social awareness initiative that digitalises today’s food donation process. This project is promoted by social entrepreneurs from Castellón, winners of the first edition of the UJI Emprèn OnSocial programme, this time in the Consum supermarkets located at Avenida Paseo Morella and Calle Rafalafena in the city of Castellón.

In this solidarity project, advanced and avant-garde technologies are employed to opt for donors’ experience, considered the driver of this project, who will be able to donate money as the representative quantities of this supermarket’s products and food items.

This new food donation method has been well accepted by the Castellón society. After only a 30-day pilot test run in only one Consum supermarket in Castellón at Calle Herrero, some 580 donations have been made of almost 5,000 euros that come as money cards to be spent by anyone at risk of social exclusion.

The second phase of this initiative involves two novelties in the new Consum supermarkets that collaborate with the project: the digital totem and the mobile application, available in both Apple Store and Google Play to cash donations.

The digital totem includes a list of the various products that can be found in the supermarket and those that people wish to donate can be chosen. With the mobile application, choices can be made in the various sections by capturing QR codes on different signs. It is worth noting that the donations made at the Consum supermarket located at Calle Rafalafena are by the mobile application.
