NOB166®, an intelligent antimicrobial, has been patented that is innovative and pioneering in long-lasting post-wash protection for 7 days
The company from Castellón NOB166 with its central offices in Espaitec 2 is specialised in the research, development and commercialisation of nanotechnology-based textile antimicrobial protection projects.
The opening of its new offices in the Science and Technology Park of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) responds to its strategic location to expand its world antimicrobial protection patent in Africa, Latin America and the USA. ”From our island premises, we continue to undertake new nanotechnology-based textile antimicrobial protection projects that back our conviction to research biocides with applied nanotechnology”, stated Noelia Beltrán, this firm’s General Manager.
One of its main innovations is NOB166®, an antimicrobial protector designed to protect and keep fabrics free of microorganisms, bacteria, fungi and viruses. This innovation is patented, which verifies its capacity to protect clothing against all kinds of bacteria and viruses for a minimum of 7 days, including coronavirus. Its efficiency has been tested by washing in both cold water, by applying it directly on fabrics in the last rinsing step, and hot water, without having to wash at high temperatures to sterilise fabrics.
TESTING WITH CORONAVIRUS
The results of the NOB166® tests, carried out by an independent laboratory, to assess viricidal activity in accordance with Standard EN 14.476 against coronavirus, were conclusive. The report, sealed on 4 March 2020, indicates: “Product NOB166® PRO achieved a logarithmic reduction of 5.13 when testing under the specific conditions of this report against coronavirus (CoVF).”
As Noelia Beltrán explained, “these tests evidence that NOB166® far surpasses the demands of Standard EN14476 for testing healthcare biocide products, which sets the logarithmic reduction limit at 4. We guarantee that our product inhibits replications of the virus and also forms an efficient protective layer for at least 7 days”.
As well as being used in hospital sectors susceptible to contamination, NOB166® is commercialised for non-professional and domestic use by means of Neonob, a product range for washing clothes and as sprays to be directly applied.
