The Technology Map Project of the province of Castellón has been made known at Espaitec, the Science, Technology and Business Park of the Universitat Jaume I. This event was presented by Juan Antonio Bertolín, the Manager of the General Universitat Jaume I Foundation and the Managing Director of Espaitec, and by Lidia Vidal, the technician of this project. Mónica Leiva, on behalf of Trencadís de Sempre and Interleva Contract, and Josep Antoni Nebot, the Manager of Heliotec, also participated.

While the Technology Map Project of the province of Castellón was being presented, the fact that there is no provincial technology business map, and the importance of geolocating, segmenting and indicting provincial technology-based companies, were stressed. So it is a constantly evolving and developing project. The various project phases were made known. It was highlighted that it is now in an exploratory and results validation phase, 14 provincial companies have participated and it will later enter a phase when its outcomes will be informed and it will be extended by including 40 formerly selected firms.

To characterise the technology-based companies in the province, innovation indicators were used (KPIs) and a questionnaire that was previously sent to the participating companies. In this first phase, companies from different towns of the Plana Baixa region participated, namely: Vall d’Uixó, Nules, VilavellaAlqueries and Vila-real. The study area will be extended to the other regions of the province of Castellón in the next phase, and the objective is to geographically cover the province from North to South and from East to West. The next phase will also include the 51 companies linked to the Espaitec ecosystem.

The Technology Map Project of the Province of Castellón is financed by the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) through a collaboration agreement between this institution and the General Universitat Jaume I Foundation, the Foundation of the Valencian Community to promote knowledge and technology transfer between the university and companies, and to support innovative entrepreneurship.
