During the encounter «Agrotech: Agricultural Digitisation», which will take place as a hybrid event on 8 February, the Intercoop cooperative, research groups, technology centres and companies that operate in the agricultural digitisation area will participate
Espaitec is organising the event «Agrotech: Agricultural Digitisation», which will be held on Tuesday 8 February from 09:00h to 11:00h. Its objective is to make known the challenges and technological applications that are currently being developed in the agricultural sector.
As pointed out by Juan A. Bertolin, the Manager of the General Universitat Jaume I Foundation as the managing body of Espaitec, «the agricultural setting is a source of technological and innovation development opportunities to improve the efficiency and efficacy of production processes in the countryside, and its logistics and energy management, which entrepreneurs, companies and institutions need to pay more attention to because they are crucial elements for any society to develop. The first day of this event, which is exclusively for this vertical sector, aims to present its current needs with the participation of Intercoop, and some solutions being worked on to encourage new collaborations and innovative initiatives that promote the agricultural world between firms and the research groups from our Valencian universities».
Intercoop
During this encounter, the General Manager of the Intercoop cooperative, Antonio Martínez, will analyse some trends and challenges in the digital transformation process that the agricultural setting faces; for instance, the sector’s low modernisation level or companies’ insufficient capitalisation.
Research groups and technology centres
This event will continue with the speech made by Mónica Hurtado, the Coordinator of the UJI «Crop protection and Molecular Biology» research group. Edgar Llop, the Coordinator of the Spectral Sensors line of the Food Technology Institute (AINIA) will explain in what the CERES Project consists, a compact teledetection system for controlling crop diseases on farmland that can reduce the use of pesticides by 60%.
Companies from the agricultural sector
To end the event, several firms will explain which technologies that they have developed to promote the agricultural sector’s digital transformation. The following will participate: Joaquín Ferrer, the technical manager of Frutinter; Manuel Martinavarro, an instructor from the Department of Aeronautical Training and Coordination of Alvol Drone Solution; Jorge García, the General Manager of Oppidum Energía; Fernando López, the CEO of GeneticAI; Lucía Iborra, a co-founder of VisualNACert.
This hybrid (online and face-to-face) event is free and will take place in the Multipurpose Hall of Espaitec 2 and also on the Zoom platform. It is necessary to register beforehand.
This initiative is supported by the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Generalitat Valenciana.
