The Fab Lab concept is an initiative of the Center for Bits and Atoms of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) which aims to generate a global network of small local laboratories based on digital manufacturing. Among the basic principles of these collaborative creation spaces, self-production, better known in English as Do It Yourself (DIY), stands out. and experimentation within the local contexts where they are located.
In order to learn in detail about the Fab Lab concept and its potential as a technology transfer tool in universities, we have organized a workshop next Thursday, May 4. It will be at 15.00:2 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Espaitec XNUMX building, on the second floor. The workshop will be divided into two parts. In the first we will learn about the concept of Fab Lab and Living Lab, in addition to delving into case studies where we will have the opportunity to discover reference Fab Labs and Living Labs models launched in neighboring universities such as the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia or the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
During the second part of the workshop, presentations will be made by the university group. In them we will learn about projects developed under the basic principles of the Fab Labs that are currently being executed in the Universitat Jaume I by students, professors, research groups and student associations of the Castellón university.
The final objective of this dissemination action, which has the support of the Generalitat Valenciana, is to learn about the Fab Lab reference models and the projects developed at the UJI to begin to define the future Fab_LivingLab at the Universitat Jaume I.
