The Solar Decathlon 2014 VIA-UJI team participates in the European Climate-KIC Pioneers in Action program

The Solar Decathlon VIA-UJI team (SDE2014 VIA-UJI) is participating in the European program Pioneers in Action of the European Knowledge Community on Climate Change (Climate-KIC), an initiative that aims to train technicians from the Valencian Community in locations related to mitigation and adaptation to climate change, especially in sustainable construction and sustainable transportation.

Within this European Union program, the team at the Universitat Jaume I welcomes Varkonyi Zoltan, an advisor in services related to climate change, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, into its organization as an international host, with the aim of studying the actions to be developed for the integration of solar houses into an urban framework that favors sustainable mobility. Zoltan comes from Budapest, a city that, like Castellón, belongs to the group of Climate-Kic Pioneer Cities for the development of innovation and market search projects along with Birmingham, Frankfurt, Bologna/Modena and Wroclaw.

The UJI and the VIA University Collage of Horsens, Denmark, participate jointly in the international university competition Solar Decathlon Europe 2014, an event originally from the USA, whose main promoter in the European editions of 2010 and 2012 has been the Ministry of Public Works, with the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), the European Union and the US Department of Energy. This competition aims to promote research and development of efficient housing, raise society's awareness of environmental problems and demonstrate knowledge and skills acquired by university students.
