Climate KIC Accelerator

Climate-KIC is the European Union's largest initiative for innovation in the field of climate change. Divided into several pillars, the Valencian Association of Companies in the Energy Sector (AVAESEN) coordinates the entrepreneurship pillar in the 6 European regions (RIC) of the program through the Climate-KIC Accelerator, espaitec is a collaborating entity of the program, mentoring several projects business.

The aim of the programme is to support the best startups in the field of clean technologies and environmental impact mitigation.

Through this program, entrepreneurs have access to the Climate-KIC network of international experts (coaching, mentoring, technological validation), networking and contacts to position their product in strategic markets, master classes, access to the European network of business angels and real investors.

Through collaboration with specialized centers such as the Scientific, Technological and Business Park of the Universitat Jaume I (espaitec), 30 new innovative companies in the clean technology sector have been able to make their business projects a reality or accelerate their business, making their innovation has a real impact on the market and European society.

The program has been developed in three phases: in the first of them the model and business plan that should govern the participating startups were defined; Secondly, we proceeded to validate this model and connect with clients to, finally, facilitate contact with investors.

In addition to the Valencian Community, the program has been developed in five other European regions of Hungary, Italy, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. Climate kic Accelerator is an opportunity to strengthen the innovation ecosystem related to climate change at the national level, transforming our region, and especially the province of Castellón, into a “hub” of Clen Tech innovation, promoting the creation of companies and acting as a tractor of wealth and innovation for our region, since the companies selected for the program were able to develop their projects at the Center for Innovation in Energy and Sustainability located in Castellón.

The Valencian Community is one of the six regions of the European Union that participate in this programme, led by IVACE-Energía, the AVAESEN association and the Castellón City Council in collaboration with Espaitec.
