The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) is established as a research observatory of the entrepreneurial phenomenon with an international vocation. Its objective is to capture entrepreneurial activity and the factors concerning it. To this end, it prepares annual reports at a global, national, regional and local level.

In Spain, the project is disaggregated into a “Region Network”, made up of various research groups, which prepare specific reports about entrepreneurial activity in their closest environment.

In this edition, the Spanish network is made up of 100 researchers, 19 universities, 90 institutions, the Santander International Entrepreneurship Center (CISE) and Banco Santander. At the regional level, it is made up of professors and researchers from the Miguel Hernández University, a team that has been developing an annual report for eleven years that provides a perspective of evolution on:

  • Values, perceptions and entrepreneurial skills of the active population.
  • Entrepreneurial activity and its characteristics.
  • Context in which the entrepreneurial process develops.
