Industry 4.0 and business digitalization under analysis at the next International Conference of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE)

The digital transformation and digitalization of companies and entities is a determining aspect today for their competitiveness, and science and technology parks play a primary role in supporting this digitalization of the industry. Based on this, the parks take an active stance, focusing part of their activities and services on the development of the so-called fourth industrial revolution, and even, some of them, receiving the mention of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs), by developing as ecosystems. so that companies and entities improve their production processes, services and business models through digitalization.

During the XVI International Conference of APTE we are learning about examples of international companies that are standing out in the field of digital transformation and Industry 4.0 such as ArcelorMittal or ASTI Technology Group. In addition, we are analyzing the characteristics of the Digital Innovation Hubs through some of the scientific and technological parks that are accredited as such: Atlanpole, Land of Innovation, Espaitec, Parc Cientific, Tecnológic i Empresarial of the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló y Parque Technological Institute of Health Sciences of Granada. Today the management director of Espaitec Juan Antonio Bertolín takes part in a debate table to address the topic.

The conference will continue analyzing the processes of digital transformation and business digitalization through the coordinator of the Innovation For Manufacturing SMEs (I4MS) initiative and the managing director of the Mercado Alternativo Bursatil (MAB).

The panel of presentations will conclude with the presentation of the “Open Innovation 4.0 in Asturias” program in which we will learn about the challenges launched by the multinationals ThyssenKrupp, EDP and ArcelorMittal and the companies that have won said challenges: NEOSENTEC, ENERGINTEL AND INGENIACITY.

During the closing of the event, the awards that collect the best practices of the science and technology parks of 2018 and the awards for the First Edition of the dissemination of the parks in the media will take place, which will recognize the work of disseminating information about scientific and technological parks that have made two media outlets at both the national and local/regional level.

Nowadays, digital transformation and the digitalization of companies and organizations is a determining aspect for their competitiveness, and Science and Technology Parks fulfill the essential role of supporting this digitalization of industry. Based on this, parks play an active role by focusing part of their activities and services to develop the so-called fourth industrial revolution, and some have even been mentioned as being Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) as they have developed like ecosystems so that companies and organizations can improve their production processes, services and business models via digitalisation.

During the 16th International APTE Congress, we will learn some examples of the international companies that stand out in the digital transformation and Industry 4.0 domain, such as ArcelorMittal or the ASTI Technology Group. We will also analyze the characteristics of DIHs through some accredited Science and Technology Parks, such as: Atlanpole, Land of Innovation, Espaitec The Science, Technology and Business Park of the Universitat Jaume I in Castellón) and the Health Sciences Technology Park of Granada. Today Espaitec's Management Director, Juan Antonio Bertolín, will speak about this topic during a round table debate.

The congress will continue to analyze digital transformation and business digitalization processes by the Coordinator of the initiative Innovation For Manufacturing SMEs (I4MS) with the Managing Director of the Alternative Stock Exchange (MAB, in Spanish).

The panel of presentations will end by presenting the program “Open Innovation 4.0 in Asturias,” where we will learn about the challenges launched by multinational firms ThyssenKrupp, EDP and ArcelorMittal, and the companies that have overcome these challenges: NEOSENTEC, ENERGINTEL and INGENIACITY.

During the closing ceremony, the 2018 Best Practices of Science and Technology Parks Awards and the awards of the first edition of parks' diffusion to the media will be handed out. These awards recognize the work of diffusing written information about Science and Technology Parks by two press media that operate nationally and locally/regionally.
