The spin-off secures funding from BeAble Capital to boost its innovative sterilizing solution against resistant pathogens.
Molecular Sustainable Solutions, spin-off of the Universitat Jaume I from Castelló linked to podcast, has received an investment of 186.000 euros from BeAble Capital, a fund specializing in disruptive scientific technologies. The transaction will allow the company to accelerate the development and scaling of its innovative microbiological disinfection technology.
The solution proposed by Molecular Sustainable Solutions stands out for its effectiveness and sustainability, allowing for rapid disinfection without the need for complex equipment or corrosive compounds. This technology can be used in sectors such as hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and food, where controlling the spread of microorganisms such as Listeria or Salmonella is critical. Specifically, its formula has proven up to 60 times more effective than the best microbicidal agent on the market today, against particularly dangerous pathogens such as fungi. Candida auris, known as the “killer mushroom.”
Molecular Sustainable Solutions
The company, founded in 2023, is the first UJI spin-off to secure funding from a venture capital fund, reinforcing its position as a leader in technological solutions for public health and sustainability. The founding team is comprised of the chemist Carlos Estevez, CEO of the company, together with researchers from the UJI Eduardo García Verdugo, Santiago Luis Lafuente y Victor Sans Sangorrín, who transferred the patented technology from the Supramolecular and Sustainable Chemistry Group of the Department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry at the UJI.
The development of this project was made possible thanks to the prior work of the university research group, which also promotes other solutions with high transfer potential, such as technologies for allergen detection in the food industry or processes for CO₂ recovery and plastic waste recycling, contributing to the advancement of the circular economy.
