Espaitec has organized a new edition of «The Key… of Innovation«, focused on the phenomenon of disinformation Under the title "Truth Under Suspicion," the session analyzed the role of social media and other communication channels in the spread of fake news and its impact on various social spheres.
Call for papers
The event took place in Villa Elisa (Benicàssim) and began with a micro-theatre piece performed by the company Caixó Theatre. Later, the short Deep Soria by the production company was screened October, and an excerpt from the program UJI RadioComboi – A journey through Fake News: the challenge of disinformation which has contextualized the topic, serving as a starting point for the main debate.
Participating in the discussion table were: Isabel Moreno, physicist, popularizer and author of the book Atmosphere of Hoaxes; Ares Biescas, a journalist specializing in fact-checking in verifiedCristina Pauner, Professor of Public Law at the Universitat Jaume I; and Cristóbal Fernández, Vice Dean of Communication and Institutional Relations of the Complutense University of Madrid.
Moderated by the director of Espaitec, Juan Antonio Bertolin, the conversation has addressed how the fake news They affect public opinion in areas such as politics, the environment, and health. Furthermore, the responsibility of digital platforms in their dissemination has been discussed.
During the day, the growing complexity of distinguishing truthful information in a content-saturated environment was highlighted. In this regard, participants agreed on the need for a media literacy deeper that allows citizens to identify, question and validate sources of information.
The event, which has the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment, concluded with an exchange of ideas and experiences between speakers and audience.
