During the "Day of the Entrepreneur" the entrepreneurship programs offered by the University were presented

La Jaume I University (UJI) Castelló, through the Vice-Rectorate for Innovation, Transfer and Scientific Dissemination, has hosted this Thursday the third edition of the «Day of the Entrepreneurial Person», a key event for the promotion of entrepreneurship among the university community. The founders of two sustainable innovation companies participated in the meeting, Fede Sainz de Robles, Founder of sepia, and Javier Barahona, co-founder of Abervian.

During the opening of the day, the vice-chancellor david cabedo He highlighted the contribution to the well-being and progress of society of the entrepreneurial projects generated by the UJI. "These university entrepreneurial projects, based on innovations developed from scientific knowledge, are destined to generate disruptive changes that contribute to sustainable growth and, ultimately, result in better living conditions for people."  

For her part, the director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marisa Flor, has pointed out the importance of participating in the activities offered by the university to enhance entrepreneurial skills and has presented some of the programs managed by the Chair of Innovation, Creativity and Learning (INCREA), such as UJILab Innovació, #ReptadorsUJI and UJIStartup.

The director of Espaitec, Juan Antonio Bertolin, has underlined the importance of this Park as a key point in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the UJI. According to Bertolín, "Espaitec not only offers infrastructure and advanced technology, but also an ideal environment where business projects can grow."

Success stories in the «Day of the Entrepreneurial Person»

During the day, the CEO and co-founder of AbervianJavier Barahona explained how, after studying at the UJI, the business idea arose together with his partner David Oliver. “When we created the firm eight years ago, we had to analyse the market very carefully and think about the steps to follow before executing them. Finally, we decided that we wanted to be the technological partner that companies relied on to develop technological solutions for energy storage.”

On the other hand, the founder of sepiaFede Sainz de Robles explained how the company that is revolutionising fashion with smart garments, produced sustainably in Spain, came about. “Our aim is to be the benchmark brand in functional products for everyday use, but also using sustainable and ethical technology,” said Sainz de Robles.
