This program coordinated by Espaitec and Increa Chair, and which has the collaboration of SECOT Castellón, its main objective is to promote the creation of innovative companies and social impact among the university community. In the second edition of UJI Empren OnSocial 33 project registrations have been received, which represents an increase of 50% compared to the first edition. Of the total projects presented, 17 have been selected.
The purpose of most of the projects is to provide solutions to emerging challenges in society, such as: having drinking water in places where it is practically impossible to obtain it; use new technologies and 3D printing to solve everyday problems for people with reduced mobility; develop energy solutions that are powered by renewable energy; use music as a tool for social development; or produce solutions that help solve challenges related to pollution and mobility problems in cities.
The program started in November 2018 and will run until July 2019, when the finalist projects will be presented to qualify for two grants of €10.000 to create the company. Phases 1 and 2 of the program, coordinated by the Increa Chair, are aimed at those project promoters without prior training in entrepreneurship, 8 in total. In these first stages, we work on defining the market segment and quantifying its potential, identifying the problem or unmet need, defining the idea and testing its concept.
The third phase will begin in Espaitec in January and the fourth in April, in which the 17 selected projects will already participate. In them, the projects will work, together with expert professionals, on aspects related to the social “Canvas”, person-centered design, negotiation, key alliances and agreements, human resource planning, teamwork, empowerment and development of personal strengths to undertake, the preparation of an economic-financial plan, financing for social entrepreneurship and the legal and legal procedures for the creation of a company.
