Espaitec reaches the final stretch of the second phase of the project «Technological Map of the province of Castellón». In this new phase, more than 100 companies from 16 municipalities in the province of Castellón have participated in the project.

The second phase of the project has focused mainly on companies in the regions of the High Flat and Low Flat, although there have also been companies from the towns of Morella, Vinaros y Benicarlo. The project “Technological Map of the province of Castellón” Its purpose is to create a marketplace of innovation and technology of the territory in the sphere of influence of the Universitat Jaume I.

The project is aimed at provincial companies with a strongly innovative and technologically based component, and that belong to one of these eight sectors: ICT; Innovative Services; Biotechnology and Health; Materials, Optics and Nanotechnology; Energy and Environment; Marketing; Industrial Technologies, and Social Technologies, aligned with the smart specialization strategy of the Valencian Community (RIS3CV).

PROJECT PHASES

Currently, the project is in the mapping process of the Castellón territory, through the platform ArcGIS, implementing different layers according to a set of analyzed indicators. This same platform allows us visually show the distribution of the nature of the participating companies under a paradigm of marketplace. The final results of the second phase of the project will be publicly announced on December 17.

The first phase of the initiative began in September 2019 and was funded by the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE). Efforts were focused on design of a work methodology to design a set of innovation indices of each of the participating companies; as well as a first proof of concept tracing the Plana Baixa region, more specifically, the municipalities of the Vall d'Uixó, Nules, Vilavella y Vila Real, establishing the relevant contacts with the identified companies that met the search requirements.

The second phase of the project began in February 2020, this time being financed by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI). Once the methodology has been validated during the first phase, in this stage The geographical reach of innovative companies was expanded to the Plana Alta region, initiating contact with companies in the municipalities of Castelló, Almassora, Vilafamés y Sant Joan de Moró.

The project “Technological Map of the Province of Castellón” continues with the commitment to contribute to increasing the capacity for growth and competitiveness of the provincial business fabric, especially in times of crisis where innovation must become a business constant. Next year, in the third phase of the project, the aim is to extend the identification of innovative companies to the rest of the area of ​​influence of the Universitat Jaume I.
