The rector of the Jaume I University of Castelló, Eva Alcón, and the company manager Sacmi Ibérica SA, David Gálvez, have signed an agreement for this company to join the Industry 4.0 Chair of the public university of Castelló. The event also included the participation of the vice-rector for Research and Transfer, Jesús Lancis, and the director of the Industry 4.0 Chair, José Antonio Heredia.
Sacmi Ibérica SA is a technological company based in Castelló of the SACMI Group, which produces and installs complete machines and plants for the ceramic industry. The firm has recently opened headquarters in one of the workshops in the Espaitec 1 building. With its membership, the company will collaborate in the teaching, research and dissemination actions of the chair over the next three years.
After the signing, David Gálvez indicated that "SACMI Ibérica is very excited to participate in this project because it understands that it is very important, at this time, to contribute within the ceramic sector to face the challenge of digitalization." In his opinion, "digitalization is an element that will allow the Castellón industry to strengthen its position in the world, seeking an advantage that will allow it to lead it in the future."
For her part, Eva Alcón has indicated that, as was said on the day the chair was created, "the strength of the chair lies in the sum of all the companies that have joined so far and those that will come later." The rector has highlighted that digitalization is one of the transversal axes of the public university of Castelló for the coming years and the creation of the chair and the participation of companies is essential.
It is the fourth company to join the Industry 4.0 Chair, which currently already has the collaboration of Exclusivas Energéticas SL as main sponsor, a technology-based company applied to energy management, Strategy and Management SL, dedicated to strategic consulting and cost reduction, and ITBacking SL, a company that offers solutions and services for the implementation of business software and infrastructure. The Industry 4.0 Chair aims to promote training, research, the dissemination of knowledge and innovation in the field of industry 4.0, as well as the promotion of new ways of organizing the means of production in the industrial sector.
