The Scientific, Technological and Business Park of the Universitat Jaume I participated on February 16 in the presentation of the results in the Valencian Community of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the most important global network on entrepreneurship that aims to make High-quality information about entrepreneurship is available to the widest possible audience. David Cabedo, academic director of Espaitec, shared a table at the opening ceremony of the day with Diego Basco, president of the CEEI Castellón and Francisco Álvarez, general director of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives of the Generalitat Valenciana.
During the presentation of the report José María Gómez Gras, director of the report in the Valencian Community and professor of Business Organization at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, highlighted that according to the data obtained in 2015, the average profile of the Valencian entrepreneur is a 38-year-old man with university studies, oriented to the consumer sector.
Gómez Gras highlighted the advantageous position of the Valencian Community in terms of infrastructure and support programs for those who create new companies, although he also pointed out as pending issues “the lack of more women who promote new companies and the need to promote the entrepreneurial spirit from an early age in education.” Likewise, with regard to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, he insisted that “there is support for the business plan, but there is a lack of advice on the business model.”
