The second edition of Hackathon Castellón has started this morning in the Sports Pavilion of the Universitat Jaume I covering its 100 seats, which means doubling the participation with respect to its premiere in 2016. The event is growing in space, in registrations and in parallel activities, which will make it up to next Sunday, October 1, at the meeting of leading programmers in the Valencian Community, with - among others - dozens of students of Computer Engineering and Computational Mathematics. In addition, another hundred girls and boys have also signed up for children's activities tomorrow, Saturday, which the organization has been forced to expand due to the strong demand.
Hackathon Castellón is an initiative of some of the city's most cutting-edge technology companies with the aim of promoting the collaborative development of software and hardware, in order to contribute to strengthening and making visible an ecosystem that places the province as a benchmark for innovation. Hackathon is also one of the territorial and sectoral revitalization events of Focus SME and Entrepreneurship, an initiative that encompasses all the agents of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Valencian Community.
Thus, the meeting of programmers began with the explanation of the six challenges posed by representatives of the organizing firms in their respective areas: Nayar Systems on artificial intelligence, IoTsens on the Internet of Things applied to the home, PaynoPain on decentralized payment management , Networking Directives Castellón on event apps and Cuatroochenta on apps and video games.
With the participants already programming, the official visit of representatives of public institutions, technological partners and collaborators who support the initiative, such as the academic director of Espaitec of the UJI, David Cabedo, the person in charge of Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council, took place. , Salvador Aguilella, the director of the CEEI Castellón, Justo Vellón, or the president of Networking Directives Castellón, Gloria Serra. Cabedo has pointed out that it is a pleasure that this event is held at the University and that it is promoted by companies that are closely linked to it. "We hope that in the future we will continue along the same lines and even expand it," he noted.
In addition to developing projects following one of the six challenges set, the Hackathon has scheduled 23 specialized talks throughout the weekend, among which those by Pedro Bisbal, mentor of the business promoter Blast Off Partners and renowned trainer in different schools, stand out. of business; David Rodríguez and Marco Domingo from Catness Game Studios, creators of Hive, a futuristic video game developed in Castellón selected by PlayStation; nutritionist Pilar Esquer, who will explain "how to feed the brain"; and Francisco Buitrago from Telefónica, who will talk about "Development of IoT applications applied to the home."
Children's Hackathon and costume contest
The second edition of the programmers' meeting has a new feature this year with the Children's Hackathon, for which 100 children grouped by age have registered. Initially, an educational robotics pedagogical activity was scheduled with Robotix Lego Education, but when the groups were completed, the Gamesonomy platform, specialized in the development of video games, has also joined the initiative. The appointment with the little ones will be on Saturday the 30th starting at 10 a.m.
And so that everything is not about being in front of the computer or mobile devices, the second edition of the programmers' meeting will also feature recreational activities, such as the After Work party today, Friday the 29th, by BetaBeers or the Comic Book Show costume party at the Saturday the 30th, which will have a high-end smartphone as a prize for the photo that gets the most interaction on social networks.
