The Office of Cooperation in Research and Technological Development (OCIT) and General Foundation of the Jaume I University This morning they celebrated the day «Virtual and augmented reality technologies at the Universitat Jaume I: research, keys, trends and solutions developed by Espaitec companies», within the cycle of S2B & B2S Transfer 2017 conferences to promote the transfer of technology and knowledge between the academic and business environment.
The day has been inaugurated by Jesus Lancis, vice-rector for Research and doctorate at the Universitat Jaume I, who has highlighted the research potential of the UJI, recognized internationally, and the commitment of its vice-rector to bring scientific research closer to applied research through this type of conferences and meetings networking.
The event has been divided into two parts. In the first part, four research groups from the UJI have shown the offer of technologies developed and marketed in the field of virtual and augmented reality. In the second part, three Espaitec companies have presented solutions of these technologies applied in various sectors.

Cristina Botella, coordinator of UJI Psychology and Technology Laboratory (LABSITEC), has explained some of the projects developed by his research group applying virtual and augmented reality technologies to clinical psychology. Among the advantages, Botella highlights the ability of virtual reality to generate controlled environments where the patient feels safe undergoing the treatment. Thus, the use of this technology not only reduces costs in simulating environments, but also improves the quality of treatment for the patient. His research group has been using these technologies for years in treatments related to the phobia of flying, claustrophobia or acrophobia.
Raul Marin, researcher of the research group Interaction and Robotic Systems (IRS Lab) at the UJI, has been the latest researcher to speak about the use of virtual and augmented reality technologies in the remote control of rescue robots.
Espaitec companies

Miguel Llorens, project manager Nuxot, has unveiled its virtual reality technology applied to architecture, solutions that allow virtual visits to construction projects where the client can choose both the project materials and the furniture or decoration in a simple way through virtual visits. Juan Jose Ortiz, CEO of the company Inoiberica, has presented virtual reality solutions applied to tourism and leisure through its project Amazing Tourism . Jorge Duran, CEO of Cocinaremociones eMarketing, has been the last to intervene to explain how to generate and market virtual tours in the hospitality and food sector.
