The first edition of «Mentoring course in new methodologies to support entrepreneurs» ended today in the Scientific and Technological Park of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón (Espaitec) with the diploma ceremony. An event that has had the participation of representatives of SECOT Castellón, David Cabedo as academic director of Espaitec and Paco Negre as teacher of the program and technical advisor of Espaitec.

SECOT-Castellon-Course-Mentors-Espaitec-1This first 60-hour training action took place from April to September 2017 and was aimed at members of SECOT Castellón, a non-profit association made up of senior volunteers, professionals, managers and businessmen who, having completed their work activity or who, while active, offer, with an altruistic spirit, their experience and knowledge in business or academic management.

This initiative aims to create a network of approved mentors who share methodology and monitor projects undertaken within the Universitat Jaume I. The action is part of the «Entrepreneurial program in the social and technological field» where SECOT Castellón members will act as mentors.

The course has been divided into three training modules. The initial one has been as an introduction and has served to outline the objectives of the course, the different types and styles of mentoring, as well as basic information, communication techniques and social innovation. In the second module, called stages, the different stages of mentoring have been discussed, subdivided into three chapters: foundations, validation and market, in which the essential topics that an entrepreneurial and innovative project must follow have been discussed. Finally, in the third module, we talked about the ecosystem with the different agents that make it up and their relationships and interactions, with special attention to the closest environment.

The dynamics of the course have been participatory workshop type, in which key topics have been discussed in depth, providing in most cases examples that complement and reinforce the theoretical concepts. The result of this first edition has been very satisfactory and the continuity of the action is to begin the mentoring process of the projects that are presented to the call for the entrepreneurial program that will be launched in the coming weeks. A second edition of the course is planned for next year, thus expanding the base of trained mentors that will be available.

This training action is included in the project «Promotion of entrepreneurial initiative at the Universitat Jaume de Castellón: actions to encourage the creation of new start-ups and spin-offs among the university community»  funded by the Department of Education, Research, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The course has been divided into three training modules. The initial has followed an introduction and has served to establish the objectives of the course, the different types and styles of mentoring, along with basic information, communication techniques and social innovation. In the second module, called stages, the different stages of mentoring are subdivided into three chapters: fonaments, validation and mercat, in which the essential themes that an entrepreneurial and innovative project must follow must be dealt with. Finally, in the third module, the ecosystem is discussed with the different agents that make up its various relationships and interactions, with special attention to the closest environment.

Representatives of SECOT Castellón, David Cabedo as espaitec's Academic Director and Paco Negre as a teacher of this program and espaitec's technical advisor participated in this event.

This first training action, which lasted 60 hours, has taken place from April to September 2017. It has addressed SECOT Castellón members, a non-profit association made up of volunteer seniors, professionals, managers and businesspeople who either no longer work or still do , but wish to actively offer their experience and knowledge in business or academic management thanks to their altruistic spirit.

The course was divided into three training modules. The first worked like an introduction and considered the course objectives set out, the different mentoring types and styles, as well as basic information, communication techniques and social innovation. The second module, known as stages, dealt with the different mentoring phases, subdivided into three chapters: foundations, validation and the market. These chapters examined the essential themes that an entrepreneurial and innovative project must follow. The third and final module talked about the ecosystem with the various agents that make it up, along with their relationships and interactions, with special attention paid to close settings.

The this course's dynamics was the participative workshop type, which looked at the main topics in detail, with examples provided in most cases to complement and reinforce theoretical concepts. The outcome of this first edition has been highly satisfactory, and action continues in order to start the process of mentoring the projects presented in the entrepreneurial program called to be launched in upcoming weeks. A second edition of this course is to be held next year, and will thus extend the basis of the trained mentors who will take part in it.
