A total of 19 parks participate in the initiative organized by the Association of Scientific and Technological Parks of Spain (APTE)

Espaitec adheres to the 6ª edition of Science and Technology in feminine, an initiative promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) what are you looking for inspire scientific and technological vocations among young female audiences.

Thus, this Monday the start day was held at the Paterna Technological Park, in which the coordinators of the program in Espaitec, Pilar Viñado and Alejandro Colonques, representatives of the participating parks, as well as institutions and educational centers of Paterna, have participated, and in which they have debated the role of parks in promoting STEAM vocations and attracting female talent in these disciplines. 

The day was attended by Felipe Romera, president of APTE; Antonio Alagarda, president of the EGM Parc Tecnològic Paterna; Francisca Periche, councilor for citizen participation of the Paterna City Council and Nani Fernandez, director of Institutional Relations Orange Spain.

During the session, a round table moderated by Lole Franco, responsible for the Women's Science and Technology project, and has had the participation of: Piroska Matos, technician of technological programs in the Gijón Scientific and Technological Park; Bel Llodra, project technician at Balearic Technological Innovation Park (ParcBit); Alejandro Colonques, project technician at podcast, and Manuela Pedraza, manager of the EGM Parc Tecnològic Paterna. All of them have highly valued the impact of the program on the ecosystem of their parks, highlighting aspects such as the fact that it is a project whose effects go beyond the park and affect other institutions, the family environment and society. in general, establishing new links with key agents in the local innovation ecosystem. 

Subsequently, STEAM professionals from around the Paterna Technology Park have shared their experience and debated actions that can help awaken the interest of adolescent girls in scientific-technological areas. The round table has been moderated by Irene Belenguer, coordinator of projects and networks at the Paterna Technology Park, and has had: Patricia Pons, researcher in ITI, Private technological center specialized in ICT, in the field of immersive technologies and natural user interfaces; Samira Khodayar, director of the Meteorology and Climatology area of ​​the Center for Mediterranean Environmental Studies (CEAM); Laura Marti, leader of the decarbonization group of AIMPLAS, Technological Institute of Plastic, and Mayte GilCEO Genomic Systems (Synlab group).

The session was closed by Silvia Rueda, cabinet advisor at the Ministry of Science and Innovation and director of the Women and Science Unit, who has stated: “I do not like to see the issue of care as an obstacle, but rather it should be a challenge, since care transcends the domestic sphere and should not be a question of women, but of the entire society.”

Attendees have also visited the exhibition 'Women who changed and who change the world' and have received the illustrated guides 'What are disruptive technologies?' and 'What do I want to be when I grow up?' which in this edition are sponsored by Orange.

DAY 23 NOVEMBER

El November 23th Espaitec organizes a day framed in Science and Technology for women in which the students of the IES Borriol-Bovalar (Secondary Education Section of the IES Bovalar in Borriol. The session will involve Leonor Hernandez, Professor in Fluid Mechanics at the UJI and researcher in the Multiphase Fluids Group and the FACSA Chair; Vanessa Moreno , Chemical Engineer and member of the management team of the Production Department Ube Corporation Europe, and Amelia Simó, Professor of Statistics and Operations Research and former director of the Higher School of Technology and Experimental Sciences of the UJI. In addition, students will participate in two workshops on scientific and technological topics.
