The aim of the session is to give visibility to the professionals of some companies that are part of the "Technological Map of the province of Castellón", and to show the students of the Universitat Jaume I their daily activity and responsibilities. 

This Friday it was held in podcast the third edition of the event «FemSTEM: Women in Technology»The meeting highlighted the role of women with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) backgrounds who work in technology companies and are part of the «Technological Map of the province of Castellón», an initiative supported by the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Tourism and Trade.

The day began with the opening ceremony by Francis Xavier Sogorb, Deputy Director General for the Advancement of Digital Society and Digital Enabling Technologies of the Valencian Government; Laura Menendez, Project Technician at Espaitec; and Marisa Flor, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Universitat Jaume I. Sogorb She highlighted "the work of the Valencian Science Parks Network in promoting STEM vocations, and specifically Espaitec with the FemSTEM event, and in giving visibility to women working in technology companies in the province of Castellón." She also indicated that "the technological revolution currently underway needs women in technology to make our region more innovative and competitive." Regarding Menéndez, has indicated that "FemSTEM is a day that is more than an event, it is already a reference space in innovation, talent and scientific vocations, which is part of the Castellón Technological Map project and which brings together more than 210 companies from the province."

Once the inauguration was over, he spoke Anabel Rueda, Manager of NTT Date Europe & LATAM, who presented the initiative Women Together, an empowerment and acceleration program aimed at women in the company. Subsequently, Yolanda Reig, Industrial and Chemical Engineer and General Director of Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC-AICE)He detailed his main tasks at ITC-AICE, such as promoting innovation and collaboration with the different agents in the ceramic sector, and boosting the ceramic industry through knowledge transfer via innovation.

Then Rosario Arnau, PhD in Industrial Technologies and Materials from Universitat Jaume I and Project Manager at Hydrens, has explained his experience in project management, focused on directing, planning and executing plans for hydraulic infrastructure, sanitation, water resources and sustainable water management, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, budgets and schedules to ensure they meet technical and economic objectives, from design to operation and maintenance, such as water treatment plants, sewerage networks or new water sources.

The day has progressed with the participation of Patricia Negro, Chemical Engineer from UJI and head of the Technological Development Area at SitraThe speaker highlighted their multidisciplinary work, which involves researching, implementing, and managing innovative technologies for water purification, treatment, reuse, and efficient water resource management. This encompasses everything from digitalization to the development of new treatment processes and the promotion of sustainability and transparency throughout the water chain, aiming to reduce costs and environmental footprint. Following the presentations, a question-and-answer session was held for the attendees, primarily students from the EHigher School of Technology and Experimental Sciences (ESTCE)who have raised their doubts and concerns with the professionals participating in the event.

The day has been closed by Juan Antonio Bertolin, director of podcastwho emphasized that “FemSTEM is not, nor does it intend to be, an isolated event. It is part of a broader vision: the Technological Map of the province of Castellón, a project promoted by Espaitec and funded by the Directorate General for Innovation of the Valencian Government, which was magnificently represented at today's inauguration by Francisco Javier Sogorb, Deputy Director General for the Advancement of the Digital Society and Enabling Technologies. His presence reinforces something essential: that innovation is a public policy when it is geared towards talent, the future, and people.” She also added that “at Espaitec, we firmly believe that innovation ecosystems are built when talent feels invited, recognized, and supported. FemSTEM is one more piece, but a key piece, of that architecture—an architecture where universities, businesses, and public institutions work together to broaden the future, not to restrict it.”

Speed ​​Dating: Technologists and Students  

Once the session is over, Beatriz Martinez, Projects technician at Espaitec, has given way to Speed ​​DatingThe presentation detailed the dynamics of individual interviews with the technologists using this format. Students who attended, having registered in advance, had the opportunity to meet privately with professionals working at DQS, the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC-AICE), Hydrens, and Sitra, and to have their questions answered about the tasks performed by the technologists in the province of Castellón.

The purpose of Speed ​​Dating, is to give added value to the students, since in addition to promoting, making visible and consolidating their option of STEM studies, it is achieved through a private meeting with the technologists, that each student receives professional and personalized guidance.

FemSTEM: Women in Technology
