Four women linked with the UJI participate in this exhibit

Espaitec helps to make visible the technologies in our surroundings by collaborating
in organizing and diffusing the exhibit “Women who change the world”. This exhibit
has been created by APTE (the Spanish National Association of Science and
Technology Parks) as part of the Science and Technology in Feminine project,
supported by the parks participating in the project.

In this exhibit, relevant female technologists from the Universitat Jaume I (UJI)
participate, such as Gladys Mínguez from the UJI Optics Research Group and
Amelia Simó, the Director of the School of Technology and Experimental Sciences.
The participants from Espaitec are Susana Aceituno from the firm Outcomes'10 and
Inma Solís from Biotics Analytical Biochemistry. Both companies are based at the
Espaitec Park.

What this exhibit aims to do is to bring the general public, especially young females,
closer to nearby female references with successful professional careers as
researchers and technologists. In doing so, it intends to do away with false
stereotypes about activities that have been traditionally linked with the male public
by arousing female youths' interest in scientific-technological careers.

On the first project day, which starts on 8 October with the participation of Eva
Alcón Soler, the UJI Rector, students from the Penyagolosa Secondary Education
Institute and from the Mater Dei School of Castellón de la Plana will participate.
They will be able to, among other activities, watch a science show live, which will be
broadcast to all the Spanish Secondary Education Institutes that wish to form part
of this initiative or view the guide entitled What do I want to be when I grow up?,
with material designed to help female youths to make decisions about their future
studies.
