Espaitec organizes the conference "Innotransfer: Batteries, a challenge to solve in the decarbonization process" on Thursday, April 27, in a hybrid format, aimed at the business community of the Valencian Community

podcast will hold a new edition of the forum Innotransfer, on April 27 from 9.30:12.00 a.m. to 2:XNUMX p.m., in hybrid format, dedicated to energy storage as a key factor in industrial decarbonization, specifically in the possibilities of batteries to facilitate the reduction, elimination and neutralization of COXNUMX emissions, business challenges that identified by the Specialized Strategic Innovation Committees (CEIE) of the Valencian Agency for Innovation (AVI). The day is organized by podcast, promoted by the Network of Valencian Science Parks (REPCV), with the support of the Valencian Agency for Innovation (AVI).

La Climate Change and Ecological Transition Law of the Valencian Community, approved in December 2022, specifies as one of its priority objectives the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of at least 40% by 2030, and neutrality by 2050. This reduction requires not only the production of electrical energy through renewable energies, but the hybridization of different technologies, and above all, the installation of energy storage equipment in order to provide management capacity, ensure the quality of supply and optimize both the use of the existing network and the development of new ones. grid.

The variability of renewable energy sources causes energy storage to become a key piece and determining factor in the reduction of CO2 emissions, making the energy transition a success. However, the development of storage technology has not kept pace with the rapid emergence of those aimed at generation. According to Energy Storage Strategy of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), the minimum storage needs for Spain are around 20 GW in 2030 and 30 GW in 2050, both figures very far from the 8,3 GW currently available. Another priority challenge that must be improved through research is the reduction of the environmental impact in battery production, the use of limited raw materials and the reuse of waste.

At the Innotransfer day Specific development proposals will be defined with the aim of, from research, innovation and knowledge transfer, offer answers to each of the identified challenges. The session on April 27 can be followed in person from the Espaitec 2 Multipurpose Room, and through Zoom at 9.30:XNUMX a.m., being the registration mandatory prior. Finally, after the event, there will be a space for networking between the attending companies and research groups.

INNOTRANSFER

Innotransfer is a multi-sector initiative of open innovation and collective management that aims to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology, developed by the scientific and technological parks of the Valencian Community, to the business ecosystem of our territory in key economic sectors such as Sustainable Habitat; Agri-food; Sustainable Mobility and Automotive; Enabling Technologies; Health; Infrastructures; and Smart Tourism.

The main business associations, the Valencian public universities and the network of REDIT Technological Institutes participate in the Innotransfer forum, which is coordinated by the Network of Valencian Science Parks (REPCV) and financed by the Valencian Agency for Innovation (AVI). This initiative aims to promote dialogue between researchers and companies in the Valencian Community through the catalytic action of the intermediate structures of the public-private research ecosystem and the Valencian business ecosystem.
