This initiative aims to promote collaboration between companies and the university community in terms of transfer, training and hiring of talent.
75% of the companies installed in the Scientific, Technological and Business Park of the Universitat Jaume I (Espaitec) will benefit, throughout 2018, from the reduction system of rates approved in 2017 by the UJI with the purpose de stimulate collaboration between the university and the group of technology-based companies in the park. Thanks to this system, depending on the degree of collaboration with Jaume I, companies can benefit from a discount of up to 50% on the fee for temporary transfer of university spaces.
"The idea is not that companies pay less. What is sought is for them to strengthen relationships and become an active part of the ecosystem, integrating as much as possible to provide mutual value,” explained David Cabedo, academic director of Espaitec, who highlighted that “science and technology parks are the main backbones of the University's third mission: promoting the transfer of knowledge and research results to society, and, specifically, companies. located in the Espaitec facilities are a direct channel to carry out this transfer.”
The rate reduction system contemplates three main lines of collaboration: R&D, employment and training. Regarding employment, it takes into account both the reception of students in curricular practices like hiring of UJI graduates in the last three years. The R&D section focuses on promoting the realization of competitive projects in collaboration and on the execution of R&D projects under article 83, which regulates the collaboration of research groups and technological institutes with companies. Finally, the training part focuses on unpaid teaching at the university level taught by managers and workers of the established companies.
