The project Knowledge Transfer Antennas, initially implemented in the towns of Sagunto y Vinaros, municipalities in which the Universitat Jaume I It has a headquarters and also a collaboration agreement with the town councils, it has brought into contact UJI research groups and professionals from a total of 66 companies located in these two municipalities.
Knowledge Transfer Antennas is included within Espaitec's innovative projects, after the agreement that was signed between the General Foundation of the UJI and the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology between University-Company and support innovative entrepreneurship. The main objective was for professionals from companies located in Sagunto and Vinaròs, and groups of researchers from the Universitat Jaume I to meet and explore possibilities of joint collaboration, in addition to serving to improve the transfer of knowledge and the innovative programs that are generated in the university towards companies.
In the first phase of the project, after an approach to the services that the UJI could offer to companies in terms of innovation and development, and a study and analysis of the research groups and the items with which they worked, it was defined the work methodology.
The second phase was the implementation of the project technicians in the selected locations, one technician per city (Sagunto and Vinaròs). Phase in which the business environment of the localities was analyzed as well as the needs or concerns that may exist. After an in-depth analysis, the third phase was carried out, visiting companies. During these visits, the corresponding technician met with those responsible for quality, innovation, human resources, factory manager, etc. (depending on the characteristics of each company), in order to better understand the activity they carried out, their way of work and what their product was. All this with the aim of finding interesting points in common with the university on which they could work together.
It should be noted that after these visits, in the weekly meetings held by all the project technicians, the needs and concerns of the companies and possible UJI research groups were specified, with which synergies could be created. Research groups that made themselves known to professionals because, in the sessions held in December in each location, they were able to observe the lines of research in which they worked and thus decide if they were interested in proceeding to a bilateral meeting.
Results of the Transfer Antennas project during 2019
In the city of Sagunto contacted a total of 34 companies, between them Pilkington, Climalife, Gonvarri, ArcelorMittal o LafargeHolcim, which held work meetings with 10 groups of researchers of the UJI from several areas of knowledge, such as Integrated Agricultural Pest Management, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Ceramics, Glass and Nanotechnology, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Waste Engineering, Electricity, Electronics and Automatics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Heat Transfers, Cold and Electricity, Multiphase Fluids, Solid State Chemistry, Environmental and Occupational Risks, Process Re-engineering and Business Digitalization.
As for the Vinaros and its area of influence, a total of 32 companiesas the Gil Comes Group, Lamidecor, Alespri, The grass, Control-on, Climastrat, FKR Chemistry, Alfe Vinaros, Benihort o Ineos Composites Hispania, holding work meetings with 14 groups of researchers from the UJI from several areas, such as, for example, the Integrated Management of Polymers and Advanced Materials, Ceramics, Glass and Nanotechnology, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Waste Engineering, Electricity, Electronics and Automatics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Big Data, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Environmental Inorganic Chemistry and Ceramic Materials, Sustainable Chemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry, Process Re-engineering, Business Digitalization and Dashboard.
Finally, it should be noted that the Knowledge Transfer Antennas project is an active and continuously evolving project during this year 2020, with the objective of expanding the area of influence of the project to the northern and southern areas of Castellón and the Camp de Morvedre.
