The digital fabrication laboratory has managed 93 requests from students, faculty and research staff during the last academic year for the creation of prototypes.

Espaitec has registered 93 requests for use of the FabLab during the last academic year 2024/2025. These applications come from members of the community of the Universitat Jaume I and respond to digital manufacturing needs linked to academic and research projects.

Among the most notable projects is the participation of several teams from the UJIlab Innovació program such as UJI Motorsport, in order to use the CNC milling machine for the production of technical parts. For its part, the team of UJIHand has used the 3d scanner and the resin printer to develop adapted prototypes, while UJIElectricRacing has turned to the workshop to streamline processes Print 3D in large volume pieces. In addition, UJIRobotics has used hand tools to make specific cuts in his assemblies.

On the other hand, both UJI researchers and faculty have requested the use of the FabLab to develop prototypes for their research. Furthermore, the initiative promoted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering to create supports for a sample of old computer equipment.

Espaitec FabLab

The Espaitec FabLab is a prototyping laboratory that combines computer-controlled machines to produce physical objects on a personal or local scale. This space is exclusively for the UJI community who want to develop ideas, validate designs, or experiment with new technologies in a specialized environment and under the supervision of technician Joan Estruch.

The space has extensive technical equipment including filament and resin 3D printers, CNC milling machine, 3D scanner, Laser cutter and precision hand tools. In addition to facilitating the use of this machinery, the FabLab offers specialized courses to foster skills in robotics and 3D printing.

To access the workshop, it is necessary to request an appointment in advance by sending an email to fablab@espaitec.uji.esThis initiative has the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment.
