More than ninety attendees have participated in the meeting held at the Higher School of Technology and Experimental Sciences of the UJI
Espaitec, through its FabLab, organized this Monday a Technology Afternoon in which it participated David Cuartielles, co-founder of ArduinoMore than ninety participants from the university community and external entities participated in the meeting, held at the Higher School of Technology and Experimental Sciences.
David Cuartielles is a telecommunications engineer and since 2000 he has been a professor at the Malmö University (Sweden), an institution where he also heads the Content Unit. In this regard, Cuartielles explained that the academy offered him the opportunity to combine engineering and contemporary art, standing out for applying programming techniques to design.
What is Arduino
Cuartielles also highlighted that one of his main objectives throughout his career has been to make technology visible in order to obtain feedback from society. For this reason, together with Massimo Banzi, Tom Igoe, and David Mellis, he created Arduino, a platform that has democratized access to technology, making it easier for thousands of people to create their own projects in an accessible and affordable way thanks to the software they have developed and the hardware they have designed. In this sense, the software currently has more than 60 million downloads.
During his speech, Cuartielles stressed the importance of collaboration and community spirit in the development of Arduino, mentioning that the culture of open source as a key point in the expansion of technological innovation. He also highlighted the advantages offered by the open source, such as lifelong learning, resilience to face complex challenges and the opportunity to engage in complex collaborations.
Attendees had the opportunity to actively participate in the session, interacting with Cuartielles and discussing the future of free hardware and its application in sectors such as education, prototyping and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The Technological Tardeo initiative is part of the cycle Recicla't Espaitec, which is co-financed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment.
