The event will bring together from September 28 to 30 nearly 200 programmers from the Valencian Community in the Sports Pavilion of the Universitat Jaume I

A meeting of programmers for 48 uninterrupted hours to highlight the young technological and innovative talent of the province of Castellón and the Valencian Community. The Sports Pavilion of the Universitat Jaume I will host from Friday the 28th to Sunday the 30th of September 2018 the third edition of Hackathon Castellón, which has managed to consolidate itself since it was born in 2016 as a platform to launch projects and professional careers.

Hackathon Castellón encourages collaborative programming among students of Computer Engineering, Video Game Design and Development and Computational Mathematics, but also active professionals looking to spend a different weekend, through five challenges posed by the companies promoting the meeting: Nayar Systems, IoTsens, Four eighty  and Networking Directives Castellón (NDCS).

The jury, where the management director of Espaitec Juan Antonio Bertolín and other professionals in innovation and new information technologies participate, evaluates their creativity, technical difficulty, finish, feasibility and presentation to decide the €3.000 in prizes and 6 months of stay at the Espacio Base coworking center in Castellón. This year the technological challenges are the programming of a chatbot and a mobile video game (Cuatroochenta), facial recognition applications (Nayar Systems), Industry 4.0 solutions (IoTSens) and a free themed app (NDCS).

The rate of registrations registered one week before its celebration indicates that the 125 registered in 2017 will be greatly exceeded, so the organization is finalizing preparations for close to 200. A growth that is explained by the motivating atmosphere that is breathed at Hackathon Castellón and the good experience lived by the attendees of previous editions. And because, truly, it is serving as a laboratory of ideas to undertake technological projects and as a showcase for attracting talent, since it has helped some of its participants to be hired by companies in the technology sector.

To complete the experience, Hackathon Castellón also offers a complete program of specialized talks, which delve into technical or business aspects, and which this year are concentrated on Friday the 28th. As a novelty, technicians from the new technological partner, IBM, will participate in this edition, which joins the long list of patrons (Generalitat, Provincial Council, Universitat Jaume I, CEEI, Soma Tech Club) and collaborators such as Espaitec with the support of the Department of Education, Research, Culture and Sports.
