Espaitec celebrated the eighth edition of the event this Thursday. Science and Technology in feminine with the participation of IES Serra d'Espadà in Onda, with the aim of fostering scientific and technological vocations among female students. The initiative is part of the program promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE).

Marisa Flor, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Universitat Jaume IShe opened the conference, highlighting the importance of promoting female role models in the scientific and technological fields. Likewise, Juan Antonio BertolinThe director of Espaitec, has highlighted the value of these types of activities in making professional opportunities in the field more visible. STEAM.

Presentations and workshops

During the first block of presentations, the students learned about the experiences of three professionals from the academic and technological fields. First, Leonor HernandezProfessor of Fluid Mechanics at the Universitat Jaume I and researcher at the Multiphase Fluids Group and in the FACSA Chair, has shared his research work.

Then Amelia SimóProfessor of Statistics and Operations Research and Director of the Higher School of Technology and Experimental Sciences of the UJI between 2018 and 2022, has spoken about how applied mathematics allows us to solve complex problems in different sectors.

Lastly, Agueda Gomez, a PhD in Computer Science and specializing in the development of Serious Games focused on education and mental health, has shown how the combination of video games and science can contribute to social well-being.

Following the presentations, the students visited the exhibitions "Women Who Changed the World" and "Women Who Change the World." They also participated in two practical workshops. One of them was led by Sergi Trilles y Carlos Granell, researchers from the Institute of New Technologies of the UJI (INIT) Within the framework of the SUCRE program, it has focused on promoting computational thinking and programming as problem-solving tools.

The second workshop, focused on the development of innovative proposals linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, included the delivery of educational materials such as the illustrated guides "What do I want to be when I grow up?" and "What are disruptive technologies?".
