The Castellón company Espaitec participates in the Revalue project, whose main objective is the research and development of processes for the conditioning of waste from ecoparks mainly, and has the financial support of the Valencian Innovation Agency, currently IVACE+I, through FEDER funds.
In the project Revalue, participate! Blue Plasma Power, a project that aims to be able to turning waste into valuable resources, Along the Technological Institute of Packaging, Transport and Logistics (ITENE) and companies MERP y LAIEX. These being the agents in the value chain, from the waste manager to the recycler, and the final manufacturer. Revalue accounts for the rejected fraction for its valorisation through thermochemical recycling processes, whose reaction products are used for the synthesis of new compounds, and can be used by the chemical industry in the manufacture of new products, such as coatings.
The initiative contemplates at a scientific-technical level, Implement improvements in the pretreatment processes of the rejected fraction from industrial waste management and ecoparks, eliminating contaminants, inert and interfering elements, as well as adapting the specifications (particle size, humidity and composition). Also the optimization of the thermochemical recycling processes, through catalytic gasification to obtain syngas, together with the optimization of the synthesis of styrene, from BTX, to obtain styrenated emulsions used in coatings, varnishes or paints.
Revalue Project Results
The results obtained in the project have been highly positive, achieving the precise identification and quantification of the rejected fraction, providing key information for the efficient valorisation of this complex material and contaminant., which has allowed a deeper understanding of its composition and its associated challenges.
On the other hand, between lThe most important findings include the identification of the main contaminants and problems that complicate processing. This information has been crucial in developing specific strategies to address these difficulties, successfully eliminating many of them. The process has been successfully adapted to the later stages of gasification, ensuring that the material can be treated efficiently in the next stage of the valorisation process.
The Revalue project maintains a focus on scalability and standardization, ensuring that the developed methods and technologies will be applicable in a real industrial environment, allowing their large-scale implementation and integration into existing processes.
REVALUE: Competitive Advantage in the Market
The Revalue project has a significant differential value compared to current market alternatives, which predominantly use landfills as a solution for complex and polluting waste. The competitive advantage that Revalue offers is its ability to transform the scrap fraction, a difficult-to-manage stream, into valuable resources, rather than simply eliminating it.This is achieved by employing a highly versatile pretreatment process, which not only allows for the valorisation of low-quality and complex waste, but can also be adapted and extended to other materials and uses. This offers a flexibility that other alternatives do not have, allowing for the exploration of new applications and markets.
The results of the project allow for the evaluation of waste fractions that other systems cannot process efficiently, reducing the costs associated with waste management, avoiding landfilling, and taking advantage of materials that would otherwise be lost.
Blue Plasma Power
Blue Plasma PowerA Castellón company based in Espaitec, has developed a technology for recovering organic waste that, with less investment, allows for doubling the efficiency of more modern conventional technologies and acts as a carbon dioxide (CO2) sink.
