The innovation developed by the Espaitec virtual company allows you to convert furniture, mattresses, wood, pruning remains or debris into liquid additives for gasoline or diesel that improve their efficiency and suppress toxic CO2 emissions.

Within the framework of the European URBANREC project, the company BluePlasma Power (BPP), dedicated to providing efficient and profitable solutions to the global problem of non-recyclable organic waste, has recently completed the construction, installation and commissioning of a pilot plant capable of giving value to non-recyclable waste, converting them into liquid additives for gasoline or diesel fuel, commercially known as Methylal, which allows for greater combustion efficiency and the suppression of toxic CO2 emissions.

Currently, the pilot industrial plant is carrying out tests for the production of Poly-methylal from a mixture of different textile products, plastics, wood, carpets, latex and tire rubber, converting it into products with high added value and in line with the commitment of the European Community to the environment.

The person responsible for the project at Blue Plasma Power, Engineer Mario Araya, explained that “the technology developed in Castellón and with its application in the new plant, allows us to give a second life to voluminous waste and produce a low-cost additive to traditional fuels, which increases their efficiency, reduces CO2 emissions, promotes significant energy savings and respects the social commitment to the environment.”

Thus, the innovation developed by the virtual company of the Scientific and Technological Park of the Universitat Jaume I achieves a double advantage. On the one hand, it eliminates up to 95% of this voluminous waste in the recovery process. On the other hand, it generates Methylal, which makes it possible to achieve greater efficiency in combustion and suppress toxic CO2 emissions by incorporating it into traditional fuels.

This action is part of the European URBANREC project with the participation of AIMPLAS, the Provincial Council of Valencia, the Valencia Interior Consortium, the Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management (ACR+) along with 16 other entities from seven different countries. Within the Project, BPP is in charge of the construction, start-up and optimization of a pilot plant, based on plasma-hydro-photo-catalytic gasification technology, patented by the company, and integrated into a biorefinery.
