Arkadia Space, a company based in Espaitec, announces its first commercial contract with Maia Space, a leading French launcher company, an agreement that represents a historic milestone for the company and consolidates its position as a key propulsion supplier in the space industry

Arkadia Space, a Castellón aerospace firm, has reached its first commercial agreement with Maia Space, a leading French launcher company. This fact represents a historic milestone for the company and consolidates its position as a key propulsion supplier in the space industry. The contract includes the Supply of 250N monopropellant engines, designed specifically for use in the launcher's reaction control system (RCS), an essential component to ensure the precision and stability of the rocket's trajectory after takeoff.

The development of these engines begins thanks to the ARIEL contract of the European Space Agency (ESA), which ensures its reliability and performance as they have been supervised and validated by agency technicians. According to Franco Garcia, CEO of Arkadia Space, «This contract demonstrates the trust that a company like MaiaSpace has in Arkadia to provide key components for its launcher. Now is the time to demonstrate our capabilities.».

Competitive advantages

The agreement with MaiaSpace This has been achieved in a highly competitive environment, where other more established and experienced companies also aspired to obtain this opportunity, a fact that is even more relevant considering that the development of said engine began in the summer of 2023, within the framework of a contract with the ESA, and when Arkadia Space only had a 5N engine developed. In addition to the product's performance, the Castellón technology company's ability to develop and deliver reliable propulsion systems in very short time frames was a determining factor in the French firm's decision.

Hydrogen peroxide-based fuel, in addition to its excellent performance, is also very convenient as it greatly reduces costs compared to traditional hydrazine-based RCS systems. In the words of Yohann Leroy, CEO of MaiaSpace, "andWe are very pleased to partner with Arkadia in this mutually beneficial collaboration. We are confident in the ability of this innovative company to deliver key components on time and at competitive costs to equip the first reusable and eco-friendly European mini-launcher.».
