The best projects will be eligible for two grants of €10.000 to create the company

The vice-rectors for Research and Transfer and for Students and Social Commitment of the Universitat Jaume I presented this morning the second edition of “UJI Emprèn OnSocial”, a program that aims to promote social and technological entrepreneurship among the university community. To this end, the program will offer training and project mentoring sessions during the 2018-2019 academic year. Places to participate are limited to 25 and the two winning projects will be eligible for €10.000 in aid to create the company.

Coordinated by Espaitec and Cátedra Increa, with the collaboration of SECOT Castellón, the program seeks ideas that can become companies with social, technological or environmental impact that help transform the society in which we live. Those interested in participating can apply before October 7 through the program platform https://espaitec.uji.es/onsocial in two ways: either by presenting a solution to one of the existing challenges, or by presenting an identified challenge and an idea to solve it.

Among the main novelties of this edition are changes in the training phase. Project proposals that come from teams with experience in a previous entrepreneurship program will begin the program directly in the second phase, with the first phase reserved only for those projects that have not received prior training in the field of entrepreneurship. The second phase will have an informative nature, while the third and fourth phases will be aimed at working on the projects individually.

The program is aimed at the entire university community, understood as: UJI students; SAUJI Alumni with a maximum of 5 years of seniority; teaching and research staff; administration and services staff; and entrepreneurs who have participated in the first edition. When selecting projects, factors such as the degree of innovation of the project, its social nature and, especially, the potential commitment to work on the project by the promoting team will be considered.

To this end, the program will offer training and project mentoring sessions during academic year 2018-2019. It is limited to 25 places and the two winning projects could opt for €10,000 in aid to set up a company.
