According to David Oliver, the co-founder of Abervian and technical partner of the project «A typical load in a home is usually around 2 to 7 kW. The maximum that is usually had is 22 kW. We are putting two outlets of 200, that is, ten to one hundred times more than the power you have at home. If you charge in your garage during the night, here you can do it in a moment».
The Wattson project will also be a mobile service, because the charging vehicle will travel to wherever the user requires, given that it will do so in less than ten minutes, with the charger traveling and not the user. This prototype was not only born with the idea of being ultra-fast and mobile in charging, but also intelligent, achieving it through the digital platform on which they are working, which will allow predicting demand.
Wattson will make it possible to draw energy from the grid at a time different from that of charging. The idea proposed is to charge the batteries at the most economical time and sell it at any time of the day in a cheap, mobile and ultra-fast way. Taking energy from the network at a different time than the load will allow it to be offered cheaper, but will also avoid stress on the network. Stress that more advanced territories are already suffering in the electrification of their vehicle fleet.
Abervian will help electrify the European vehicle fleet, serving since November in Madrid, the city chosen to launch its prototype. It should be noted that the sale of electric vehicles in Spain is growing ten times faster than the charging infrastructure.
20 people work on the Wattson startup so that its project becomes a reality by the end of 2022. In fact, they hope to obtain the necessary certificates next November and be providing the service on the streets of Madrid. The capital of Spain will be the pilot test to later reach Barcelona, Lisbon and London.
